What is Unmetered VPS Hosting?
Unmetered VPS hosting just means that there is no limit on how much bandwidth may be used to and from the server. Any amount of data can be transferred on an unmetered Virtual Private Server, with the only real limit is imposed by the port speed. These type of VPS plans may be referred to as Unlimited Bandwidth VPS hosting plans.

Why Unmetered VPS plans? Bandwidth, lots of it! Bandwidth overage charges can get expensive fast. What happens if you get slash-dotted, hit by Digg, or any other site that sends massive traffic your way. Two things, your account gets banned for exceeding its allocated bandwidth and / or you get a really large bill at the end of the month.
You can see from the list above that Fanatical VPS really stands out for the speed of its unmetered VPS plans. Fanatical offers fantastic customer service, 99.7% uptime, and generous specs for fantastic prices. I would recommend them above all others!

Thanks for this post. I’ve found some real differences between VPS hosts mainly in terms of performance and reliability (Amazon EC2 especially weak). I was with VPS.net which was great for a while but then their reliability went down the pan – it locked up 3 times in 2 weeks, once requiring a system edit to unlock the hard drive. Apparently their SAN had some issues.

Unmetered VPS allows unlimited bandwidth for those who pay for usage of a virtual private server. Private server space is scalable to provide the amount of memory and computer processing the user needs, while the bandwidth is unlimited. This is the equivalent to a flat monthly fee for a phone and receiving an unlimited data plan. But who are the prime customers for unlimited bandwidth VPS hosting? While VPS is ideal for anyone with a high volume or accessing large files, the demographic need of this service can be narrowed down to a few key groups. Application developers who offer applications for download can use unmetered VPS to meet the demand of those seeking to access the application. Writers who are offering a popular book for download can use unmetered bandwidth VPS, thus being able to meet any peaks in sales without paying more for the service. Any group doing collaborative software, website, or high volume translation and writing projects needs to be able to upload and download large chunks of data quickly. A small company can use unlimited VPS along with collaborative software to meet this demand and scale their VPS space to fit their budget and current project needs.
